Sud-Muntenia region encompasess the capital city and benefits greatly from this proximity. Some sectors have a long tradition, e.g. chemical and petrochemical machinery and products, automotive (Dacia factories), machinery, equipment and transport devices, construction materials, textiles and food industry. The region has a good road and rail transport infrastructure and connections to five pan-European transport corridors and the A1 and A2 highways. Naval transport is a main regional advantage due to the access to the main European navigation route of the Danube and to four harbors. The South-East region is the second largest of Romania's eight regions. It has a diversified industry. Almost all industrial branches are represented: the petrochemical, metallurgical, machine building, construction materials, food and textile industries. The region is also crossed by the Danube River, encompasses the Danube Delta and is bordered to the east by the entire Romanian Black Sea coast. The highest population density being in the county of Galati, dominated by the industrial and commercial center of the same name. Production in the region: TESLA, Shipyards, Metal Industry, Refinery Oil.

Nord-Est region is the largest development region of Romania in terms of the number of inhabitants and the area. Regions objective is to increase economic competitiveness and improve the living conditions of local and regional communities through sustainable development, so they can effectively manage their resources and exploit their potential for innovation and uptake technological progress. Due to the low costs and the well-qualified workforce, the North-East region is one of the most advantageous areas for investments in Europe.  The Bucharest – Ilfov region encompasses the capital, Bucharest, as well as the surrounding Ilfov County. The Bucharest-Ilfov region is the most developed in the country and is responsible for 25% of the total national economy and has the largest share in Romania's exports. Most large companies have their HQ in this region as it is largest industrial cluster in Romania. Trade, warehousing, distribution, administration - every important part of business is present here which allows the region to distance itself on a level of development from the other regions, despite the unfavorable geographical position. With the country's most important national and international road-rail-air transport hub, it is characterized by a high degree of accessibility. From the surface point of view, it is the smallest region, but it is the most developed from the demographic, urban and economic point of view.

South-West Oltenia region greatly benefits from the presence of the Danube River in the South of the region. Thanks to the river the region has access to many countries and also to Black Sea and therefore access to the Port of Constanta - the main maritime gateway of the country. The mountainous and hilly area concentrates natural underground resources (oil, natural gas, coal, radioactive and metallic ores, salt, calcareous marls, sulfur, gypsum accumulations and mineral springs) important for the energy, chemical and construction materials industries. Production in the region: automotive - FORD and suppliers, Hengst Filtration.

Center region ranks 5th among the regions of Romania. Due to its geographical position, it borders every other development region except 

, The economic structure of the Central region has undergone substantial changes in the last 10-15 years. The shares of some economic sectors such as agriculture, the extractive industry have decreased a lot, increasing instead the share of other industrial branches and those of the tertiary sector, especially. Currently, services provide 58.6% of regional gross added value, and industry 31.1%. Major production companies are present in this region, for example: SIEMENS, Continental, Faurecia, PRADA, Louis Vuitton, etc.

The West region has the most dynamic economy in Romania and the largest influx of investments. It has the highest entrepreneurial rate in the country and a system of Startups in full development. Timisoara is the best city for business in Romania, according to Forbes. It is the only city in Eastern Europe with AAA investment grade, calculated by the Fitch Ratings agency. One of the characteristics of the West Region is the presence of almost all industries: machine construction, automotive, electronic components and more. Among the companies present in the region belong: HELLA,  SWOBODA, Continental, Ericsson, VAT, Leoni or PERPLASTIC.
